Located on W Peachtree in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, ROOM at 12 is located in the 12 hotel. A very quaint yet sophisticated restaurant and bar. I was invited for a tasting and loved every minute of it.
I started at the bar to enjoy a Georgia Peach Mule. Truly a southern drink bubbling with ginger beer and Vodka. As I made my way to our table, I stop to take a look at the kitchen with all the buzz of the Executive chef along with his Sous and pastry chef engaged in everything food.
I snap a few pictures of the restaurant then head to my table for service. I am greeted by my waiter and handed a menu. As I go over the menu I decide to start with the Crab cake and my partner the calamari.
The appetizers arrive and look absolutely delicious. I cut into the lump crab meat just to be graced with sheer goodness of all of the spices that pop in my mouth. The Crab Cake accompanied by fresh ripe tomatoes and cucumber.
I chat a little and have another cocktail and make my final decision on my entre.
I decide on the Pan seared Trout with cous-cous and grilled asparagus. The dish arrives so colorful and festive. The Trout has been seared in butter and Tumeric. The golden color shining so vibrant on the fish and the cous-cous so sweet with cranberries and apricots. I was so pleased with this meal and how light and fresh it was. My partner decided on the Lamb Chops!
The Executive chef Juan Carlos Huerta comes over to introduce himself. We let him know how excited we were with the meal and that we will be shouting out to the roof tops about ROOM at 12. He gives us a shy smile and proceeds to tell us all about how he landed a job here and how much he loves running the kitchen.
It’s now time to make a choice from the desert menu. So many decadent choices and I decide on the Apple Crumb Cake. The restaurant has a pastry chef in house that delivers beautiful sweet treats. My partner decides on the Flour-less Chocolate Cake. The deserts arrive and we dig in. WOW! Is an understatement for what I am experiencing. How moist and sweet this Apple Crumb Cake is. Drizzled with warm caramel and fans of strawberry and apple waving around the plate.
We chat a little more with our fabulous waiter, pack up what we were not able to consume and leave our table.
We are now escorted to the VIP room also known as the fish bowl. This private room comes equipped with its own wine rack with many great wines to choose from as well as a privacy curtain that is panoramic. There is a wonderful view of the street and it seats 12. Reservations for this room are required and it is suggested that you make them several days in advance.
Many thanks to Caren West PR and Lauren Klopfenstein for making this happen for us. And also many thanks to Dan Whitaker the General Manager of ROOM at 12. Lets not forget the wonderful Taylor Guenthner for the impeccable service. We really enjoyed every minute of this journey and will be back very soon
