What exactly is a burger? Is it beef or pork. Does it have to be some sort of ground meat? Well I’m going to have to say no………
What makes a burger a burger is the consistency of what you have created. The amazing flavors that you create as well as how much you love your creation.
Well here is my version of a sustainable Vegan burger that is packed with lots of flavor and has a hearty consistency. The recipe is easy to follow and will make even those who refuse to eat anything other than a MEATY burger have a change of heart.
2 cups of cooked quinoa
1/2 pound of your favorite mushrooms chopped
1 tablespoon of Wosheshire sauce
1/2 cup of whole wheat bread crumbs
2 eggs (using an egg replacer I like using Ener-G)
1 tablespoon white wine
1 teaspoon of olive oil plus one for cooking
1 red onion chopped
1 clove of garlic chopped
Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Heat a heavy non-stick pan with olive oil. Form the burgers into paties and place in the pan. Allow to cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Prepare a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and place the cooked burgers on the pan. Once all of the burgers are finished place the sheet pan in the oven and bake the burgers for 20 minutes. Remove the sheet pan from the oven and enjoy……..
